Members and Guests of Covenant,
We are in the midst of an exciting time in the life of our congregation. Over the past few months a group of folks have been searching for the right person to serve as our interim minister here at Covenant. After unanimous approvals by the Interim Search Committee and the General Board we met as a congregation yesterday, October 20, 2013, to consider the call of Reverend Robert “Bob” Franz as our Interim Minister. I am pleased to let you know that we as a congregation have confirmed that call, and we will welcome Rev. Franz as our Interim Minister starting in late November. How exciting to have Rev. Franz and his wife, Elizabeth, join us just in time to celebrate Covenant’s 27th anniversary!
Rev. Franz comes to us with 40+ years of ministry where he has served both large and small congregations in various capacities. Bob has served as both a settled and an interim pastor. Bob and Elizabeth will be relocating from Georgetown, Kentucky, so I trust that you will make them feel at home here in the Triangle and share with them your tips and tricks to avoid going in circles on Maynard Rd.
I’d like to take this opportunity to also thank our search committee for their commitment during this process. The search committee was comprised of: Craig Paul (chair), Shirley Kennedy, Michael Smith, Lauren Netzband, and Dick Reaves. Additionally, Darla Baldwin, Renié Palmer and myself served as non-voting, ex-officio members of the committee. Please take a moment to thank these folks when you see them.
Blessings,
Jeremy Hopkins
