Outreach Ministry

At Covenant, we believe outreach and service to others in our congregation, local community, region, and the world is an essential response to God’s love and care for each of us.

This belief is so near to our hearts that we’ve listed it as one of our core statements of what we believe.  Please visit the Our Faith page for more of our core beliefs.

Covenant provides outreach through a variety of programs including:

Week of Compassion:

Week of Compassion (WoC) is the relief, refugee and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). WoC works through implementing partner organizations to facilitate relief and development efforts in areas of great need by providing financial resources. Giving to Week of Compassion is an effective way for Disciples congregations, members and friends to channel their resources and concerns to the humanitarian needs of suffering people within the United States and in the world. The Garden of Hope – Working with Interfaith Food Shuttle:

The “adopt the garden” program allows a person or a group to take responsibilities for the Covenant garden for a week.

Depending on the time of year, this might entail: watering the garden 3-4 times (every other day at least), picking and packing produce (1-2 times per week) or storing the produce in a safe place. This project is real gardening including adding mulch, weeding, and continuous beautification of the garden. So come play in the dirt and help the hungry.

Our harvest is either donated directly to the Interfaith Food Shuttle or sold to our congregants.  All proceeds from the sales are then donated to the Interfaith Food Shuttle.
